Craig McLeish of St Mirren to Face Hearing Over Referee Comments

News

Defending champions St Mirren had an effort ruled out after Eseosa Sule was judged to have fouled goalkeeper Aston Oxborough before Samuel Ramos put the ball into the net.

With two minutes remaining, Dunfermline’s Chris Kane converted a penalty awarded after Marcus Fraser was deemed to have fouled Keith Bray.

St Mirren said they would “carefully review the notice before deciding what action to take next” and added that they would “not comment further at this stage”.

According to the St Mirren Mercury, McLeish maintained that his comment about Murdoch during the broadcast was intended as a light-hearted remark.

Despite the loss, St Mirren finished top of their group and Dunfermline advanced in second place. However, the result left St Mirren unseeded in the round-of-16 draw and handed them an away tie against Rangers.
