The FA did not reveal any information about the case because its anti-doping procedures are treated as highly confidential.
However, the Cas decision confirms that Mudryk tested positive for meldonium, a substance that may improve breathing capacity and endurance, during an out-of-competition test while representing Ukraine in October 2024.
According to Cas, the sample contained only a small amount of the banned cardiovascular drug.
The ruling also stated that the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) has since updated its technical guidance concerning meldonium.
Cas explained that the revised rules cannot be applied retrospectively. However, it noted that if Mudryk’s sample were tested under the current guidance, the meldonium level would not be reported and the result would not be classified as an adverse finding.
Cas confirmed that Mudryk and the FA, with Wada’s approval, have settled the appeal proceedings, clearing him to return.
