Manchester United have appointed Eva Olid as the new manager of their women’s team on a two-year contract, with the option of an additional year.
The former Hearts head coach succeeds Marc Skinner, who departed by mutual agreement on Monday, one month before the Women’s Super League season begins.
Olid, a 40-year-old Spanish coach, left Hearts during the summer after her contract expired, having guided the Edinburgh side to their first Scottish Women’s Premier League trophy last season.
Alongside securing the club’s first major honour, she also led Hearts to their maiden domestic final, where they were defeated by Rangers in the 2024 Scottish Cup.
“Being given the chance to lead Manchester United Women is the fulfilment of a lifelong ambition,” Olid said.
“This squad already possesses an abundance of quality, and I look forward to helping the players realise their considerable potential.”
The club had identified a strong record of nurturing and improving players as one of the main qualities required in Skinner’s successor.
United will open their league campaign away to London City Lionesses on 4 September, four weeks from Friday.
