Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount is expected to sit out Wednesday’s pre-season match against Leeds at Croke Park.
Mount impressed throughout United’s opening three pre-season fixtures, playing as a number eight ahead of new arrival Andrey Santos.
However, he suffered a kick to his foot during the early stages of Saturday’s draw with Paris St-Germain in Gothenburg.
Head coach Michael Carrick explained that Mount was withdrawn in the first half as a safety measure. Although the 27-year-old appeared to walk without difficulty when heading to the team coach after the match, he is believed to have missed training since then and is not expected to feature against Leeds.
It remains uncertain whether Mount will recover in time for the club’s final pre-season fixture against Ruben Amorim’s AC Milan in Wroclaw on Saturday.
