Each of the 12 Scottish Premiership clubs will field a team of former stars in a legends edition of the popular indoor Tennent’s Soccer Sixes tournament later this year.
Supported by the SPFL, the returning competition will be staged at Braehead Arena on 3 and 4 October, with Premier Sports providing live coverage.
Saturday will feature the group matches, with three regional groups containing four teams each. The top two sides in every group will advance to the knockout rounds, joined by the two highest-ranked teams finishing third.
A winner will be decided in every match. If the score is level at the end of normal time, a penalty shootout will take place, with the victorious side earning a bonus point. Sin-bin penalties will also apply.
The Tennent’s Soccer Sixes was a prominent part of Scottish football for nine years after launching in 1984, with participating clubs regularly selecting many of their best players.
Partick Thistle won the most recent tournament in 1993, but the Scottish Championship club will not be involved in this year’s return.
SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster said: “The Tennent’s Sixes remains a cherished memory for a generation of football supporters, and we are delighted to bring the competition back with the SPFL’s official backing.”
