Engels becomes West Ham’s fourth addition of the summer, following Venezuelan midfielder Keiber Lamadrid, Dutch defender Joel Veltman and Israeli winger Manor Solomon.
West Ham’s director of player recruitment, Nils Koppen, said on the club’s website:, external “We have monitored Arne for a considerable period and identified him as one of our main targets.
“Despite his young age and the potential he still has to develop, he already possesses valuable experience. He has also demonstrated reliability and self-belief while playing for a major club.
“Arne’s qualities on the pitch and his personality make him well suited to our plans for the future. He is excited to join us and embrace this challenge.”
The four-time Belgium international helped Celtic secure two consecutive Scottish Premiership championships after joining from Augsburg in August 2024. He started his professional journey at Club Brugge.
“This is a very exciting project to be part of,” Engels said. “Our main ambition is to earn promotion back to the Premier League.
“I hope I can contribute to the team’s efforts, work alongside my new team-mates and give the supporters plenty of victories to celebrate. I am looking forward to a successful season.”
