A major squad overhaul could be approaching at Manchester City, potentially helping Newcastle in their pursuit of a central midfielder following the departures of Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimarães. Nico González may be heading to St James’ Park after struggling to establish himself at the Etihad Stadium. Meanwhile, attacking duo Omar Marmoush and Savinho appear set to join Tottenham, moves that could trigger a hectic conclusion to City’s transfer window.
Across Manchester, United could allow several young players to join Arsenal. Gibraltar international James Scanlon, who was loaned to Swindon for the latter half of last season, and Habeeb Ogunneye are reportedly close to moving to the Premier League champions. Arsenal continue to recruit promising prospects as they seek to improve the talent available throughout the club. One youngster who may leave the Emirates Stadium is Ethan Nwaneri, with Fulham and Everton showing interest and RB Leipzig potentially entering discussions over a loan. Gabriel Jesus has also been associated with a possible departure, although the Brazilian would prefer to remain at Arsenal.
Ezri Konsa looks set to join Arsenal, leaving Unai Emery searching for a replacement. Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo, who is no longer considered essential to his current club, is among the possible targets, although Marseille could provide competition. Aston Villa are also holding discussions with Ajax regarding a potential transfer for Leon Bailey. The Jamaica international has only one year left on his contract at Villa Park.
Everton may appear quiet in the market, but work is reportedly continuing behind the scenes. Alongside their interest in Nwaneri, they are monitoring Como winger Assane Diao and could submit an offer for the Ivory Coast international. However, a possible valuation of £60m makes an agreement seem difficult.
Hull’s ambitious transfer plans have suffered a setback, with Niccolo Fortini expected to join Torino after Fiorentina accepted a deal. They could recover from that disappointment by completing a move for Nottingham Forest’s Dilane Bakwa. Elsewhere, Galatasaray have made an approach for Ismaïla Sarr, but Crystal Palace swiftly rejected the proposal because they are unwilling to lose another important player.
Championship club Wrexham are looking to accelerate their summer recruitment by pursuing Plymouth striker Bim Pepple. Preston could rival them for his signature, while several teams from Europe and MLS are also keeping track of the former Luton player. Wrexham may additionally consider a move for Leeds forward Lukas Nmecha, although completing that deal would appear particularly ambitious.
