Manchester City’s financial outlook changed after they completed the signing of Ayyoub Bouaddi on Wednesday. Sales involving Savio, Tijjani Reijnders, Rodri, James Trafford, Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake have brought in a combined 278.5m euros.
The addition of Bouaddi has increased City’s total expenditure to 273.7m euros, meaning the club currently has a transfer surplus of 4.8m euros.
More exits could soon alter those numbers. Tottenham have reached an agreement to take Omar Marmoush on loan, including a requirement to complete a permanent £60m (58m euros) transfer next summer. As a result, the payment would be included in City’s revenue for the 2027-28 campaign instead of the current season.
Nico Gonzalez is also likely to move on, and Jack Grealish may leave before the transfer window closes. Grealish was on loan at Everton last season, and the club remain keen on him. However, the winger considers Enzo Maresca’s appointment as Pep Guardiola’s successor an opportunity to begin again at City. His existing deal expires in June 2027.
Selling Gonzalez permanently, along with a potential transfer for Grealish, could provide a substantial boost to City’s income for the 2026-27 season.
The club’s success in generating major transfer revenue is especially important because of its extensive midfield overhaul. City have already paid Nottingham Forest 135m euros for Elliot Anderson and continue to show interest in Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez.
