Mary Earps Set for Man Utd Reunion as London City Lionesses Return to WSL

News

Earps spent two seasons with PSG, making 22 Premiere Ligue appearances during her final campaign.

She departed United to pursue Champions League competition and trophies, while the move also gave her some time away from the intense attention she received in England.

Interest in her increased once more after her book was published last year, but Earps remains appreciative of everything she experienced in Paris.

“I truly appreciate all the wonderful affection and encouragement I have received over the years, although it was refreshing to spend some time away,” Earps said.

“PSG is an excellent club. Having the opportunity to play at the Parc des Princes and experience French cuisine, Parisian culture and a new language was valuable for me.

“I have an intense personality, particularly on the field, so stepping away from the hectic environment in England gave me an important chance to reflect.

“At the same time, I am extremely thankful for the platform I have been given, so I am not complaining. Moving abroad was about challenging myself and leaving my comfort zone.”

When her contract ended, however, Earps felt ready to return to England and enjoy the atmosphere of the WSL again.

“Naturally, there were certain things I missed, and I am delighted to be home,” she added.

“I missed English football culture, including the emotion of entering a stadium, the energy from the supporters and the excitement surrounding the women’s game in this country.

“I expected to miss those things when I moved away, which is why returning feels so exciting. Time apart has made me appreciate them even more.”
