Luke Graham and Robbie Ure Named in Pocognoli's First Scotland Squad

Hull City striker Oli McBurnie has returned to the Scotland squad after a five-year absence, while Luis Binks, Colby Donovan, Jon McCracken, Josh McPake and Stephen Welsh are among the uncapped players included in new head coach Sebastien Pocognoli’s first selection.

Stoke City defender Luke Graham and Sevilla forward Robbie Ure have also earned their first senior call-ups, as anticipated.

Scott Bain, Josh Doig, Lennon Miller and James Wilson have all been brought back into the squad.

McBurnie, 30, made his international debut in 2018 and collected the most recent of his 16 appearances in 2021. Although he has yet to score for Scotland, he converted a penalty in the shootout that secured qualification for the postponed Euro 2020 tournament.

Binks, 25, who plays for Brondby, previously represented both England and Scotland at youth level. Fellow defender Donovan, 20, has attracted attention this season after replacing injured Canada right-back Alistair Johnston in Celtic’s lineup. Like McBurnie, Donovan has played at under-19 and under-21 level.

Graham joined Scotland’s pre-World Cup training camp in May following an impressive breakthrough season with Dundee, where he received the Scottish Premiership club’s players’ player and young player of the year honours.

The 22-year-old remained on the bench during Scotland’s farewell friendly victory over Curacao, which also marked Steve Clarke’s final match in charge at Hampden Park.

The defender, who has made three appearances for the under-21 side, has enjoyed an impressive start with Stoke City in the Championship. He has featured in every match during the club’s four-game unbeaten run.

Former Rangers academy player Ure drew interest from clubs across Europe after recording 20 goals and three assists in 20 games, helping Sirius climb to the top of the Swedish standings. His performances led to a £5.5 million summer move to La Liga side Sevilla.
