James Wilson and Findlay Curtis Depart Scotland Squad for U21 Duty

News

Forwards James Wilson and Findlay Curtis have departed Scotland’s senior squad to represent the Under-21 side against Azerbaijan on Wednesday.

Hearts forward Wilson and Rangers winger Curtis had been attending a training camp in Spain with the 27-player squad chosen by new head coach Sebastien Pocognoli. They will now sit out the Nations League fixtures against Slovenia away from home on Saturday and Switzerland at home on Tuesday.

Both players could rejoin the senior squad for the visit to North Macedonia on 3 October and the home encounter with Slovenia three days afterward.

Scotland Under-21s will face Bulgaria away on the same date as the senior team’s second fixture.

Wilson has netted five goals for Hearts this season. At 18 years and 17 days, he became Scotland’s youngest male international when he earned the first of his two senior caps as a substitute against Greece in March 2025.

Curtis has appeared five times for Scotland and holds the distinction of being the country’s youngest World Cup player, having featured as a late substitute against Haiti and Brazil in the United States this summer.
