Manchester City Boss Insists Club Is Innocent as Rivals Demand Verdict Be Made Public | Manchester City

Several Premier League clubs are calling for the ruling involving Manchester City to be released without further delay, while the club prepares for a prolonged effort to defend itself.

Manchester City chief executive Ferran Soriano told the European Football Clubs board on Monday that the club intends to challenge the decision and demonstrate its innocence after an independent commission reportedly upheld most of the 115 alleged breaches of Premier League financial regulations.

Other EFC board members were reportedly surprised that Soriano discussed the ruling, which became known on Friday but has not yet been officially confirmed by either Manchester City or the Premier League. Those present included domestic rivals Jean-Claude Blanc, head of Ineos Sport and Manchester United’s chief of international football relations, and Everton owner Dan Friedkin.

Soriano is believed to have asked for permission to deliver a short statement at the beginning of the meeting. He said Manchester City rejected the commission’s conclusions and remained confident of ultimately succeeding in its challenge. He also noted that eight years had passed since the financial allegations first surfaced and warned that a final resolution could still be some distance away.

The continued delay has increased frustration among other clubs, which have received little information about the case or when it might be resolved. Executives were given a general overview of the commission’s findings last Thursday, but no further details have emerged and the full decision remains unpublished. A club source said on Monday that the lack of information should be addressed as quickly as possible for the benefit of everyone involved.

Soriano chose not to respond when reporters approached him after the EFC board meeting.

The Premier League has made no public statement and has not said when the judgment will be released.
