Wales remain third going into the final round of fixtures after beating Norway and losing to Portugal on Sunday, with head-to-head records used to separate teams in the competition.
Across the last three Nations League editions, sides finishing at the bottom of a League A group collected an average of 2.92 points from six matches.
Wales have already secured three points, with a trip to Oslo to face Norway and a home match against Portugal in Cardiff still to come in November.
Bellamy had identified third place as the objective even before the latest international fixtures began.
Achieving that target would offer Wales an opportunity to stay in League A while also strengthening their seeding position for the Euro 2028 qualifying draw.
The record of previous third-placed teams provides a useful indication of what may be required.
During the 2020-21, 2022-23 and 2024-25 campaigns, teams that placed third in their League A groups averaged 6.42 points over six fixtures.
Wales are therefore likely to need another victory, or possibly two draws, to have a realistic opportunity of securing third spot.
A fourth-place finish would not necessarily result in immediate relegation under the revised format. Only the two lowest-ranked bottom teams drop automatically, while the remaining two enter play-offs against League B runners-up.
Because Serbia, Turkey and the Czech Republic have yet to earn a point, Wales may already have done enough to reach a two-legged survival play-off in March. Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ukraine, Scotland and Kosovo are among their possible opponents.
