Declan Rice is nearing an agreement on a fresh long-term deal with Arsenal, according to sources.
The England international has established himself as a vital member of the Gunners’ squad since completing a £105m move from West Ham in July 2023.
His existing contract runs until the end of next season, but negotiations over an extension began earlier this year and have now progressed to an advanced phase.
The 27-year-old has started more than 150 matches for Arsenal and remains an important figure for England. National team manager Thomas Tuchel recently described him as one of Europe’s leading midfielders.
Under the proposed agreement, Rice is expected to receive a considerable increase on his reported weekly wage of £240,000. The new terms could bring his earnings in line with top-paid teammate Bukayo Saka, who is thought to make around £350,000 per week.
The development follows Wednesday’s announcement that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has signed a new four-year contract with the Premier League champions.
