Pep Guardiola: Ex-Man City Boss Set to Attend PSG Champions League Clash

News

Pep Guardiola is likely to be present for Manchester City‘s Champions League meeting with Paris St-Germain next week, which will be the club’s first home fixture since it was convicted on most of the 115 counts filed by the Premier League.

The match is set to be the Spaniard’s first visit to Etihad Stadium since ending his 10-year spell as manager at the close of last season.

An independent commission ruled earlier this month that the club had committed all the alleged violations of the Premier League’s financial rules from the 2009-10 season through 2017-18.

City maintain that they did nothing wrong and have appealed the conclusions of the Premier League report, which alleged that £830m in commercial income was artificially overstated through contracts described as fraudulent.

Following the decision, the 55-year-old Guardiola expressed his support for City’s ownership and senior management, insisting that he would remain loyal to the club.

“I want Manchester City supporters everywhere to understand that I stand with the club now more strongly than ever,” he wrote on social media.

“I have always supported, and will continue to support, my club, the owner, the chairman, Ferran [Soriano], the players, employees, Enzo [Maresca] and our exceptional fans.

“I want to make this absolutely clear: we will overcome the situation as one. I care deeply about all of you.”
