Bournemouth face mixed emotions as they weigh up the possibility of selling Scott.
At the start of the campaign, the club maintained that key players such as Scott, Rayan and Eli Junior Kroupi would remain until at least the summer of 2027.
Their position has since changed, however, and they are now reluctantly willing to consider Scott’s departure if an offer matches their asking price.
The club’s valuation reflects a Premier League market in which transfer fees for midfielders have climbed to record levels.
With three midfielders already moving for more than £100m, Bournemouth are looking for a comparable fee for Scott.
A TransferRoom study published on Tuesday found that expenditure on defensive midfielders increased by 191% to 1.38bn euros, while the average transfer price rose by 156% to 9.9m euros, the highest figure for any position.
There is also disappointment at the club over the injury Scott suffered while representing England.
He joined the squad with some muscle tightness, but the problem became more severe and ruled him out for roughly six weeks.
The setback followed a major pre-season injury to Kroupi, who has not played at all this campaign and is unlikely to return before November.
New head coach Marco Rose is still searching for his first league victory, with a 5-1 loss to Chelsea marking the most difficult moment of his spell so far.
There is still optimism that performances and results will improve. Iraola went through a longer wait for his first win after taking charge, while the club’s Europa League journey has generated considerable enthusiasm.
Bournemouth opened their European campaign with an impressive victory over Real Sociedad and will next welcome Sturm Graz on Thursday.
