Trabzonspor chairman Ertugrul Dogan is one of 147 club officials handed a 45-day suspension by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) for violating gambling regulations.
In September, authorities revealed that 448 individuals had been temporarily suspended and referred to the TFF’s professional football disciplinary board over claims that they placed wagers while holding official positions.
Under rules enforced by the TFF, Fifa and Uefa, club officials are prohibited from engaging in betting, just as players and coaches are.
According to the TFF, those under investigation had worked for clubs in Turkey’s top two football divisions at some point during the past five years.
Investigators determined that 147 of them had broken gambling rules, preventing them from performing football-related duties throughout their suspensions.
Officials concluded that the remaining 301 cases did not contain enough evidence to justify disciplinary proceedings.
Turkish football authorities have intensified their efforts to tackle betting violations within the game over the past year.
In November 2025, a TFF inquiry resulted in suspensions for 149 referees and 1,204 players.
