The difficult second season – Falkirk boss John McGlynn

Uncategorized

John McGlynn anticipates Falkirk will command increased “respect” in the new season and acknowledges that replicating their previous campaign will be a difficult task.

Following two straight promotions, the team secured a place in the upper half of the table during their first season back in the highest division for a decade and a half.

McGlynn has been active in the transfer market, with a key focus on filling the void left by his leading scorers, Barney Stewart and Calvin Miller, after their moves to West Bromwich Albion and Heart of Midlothian.

“You cannot stand in their way,” he commented on a sports radio program. “When players observe the project we are building, it becomes easier to bring in new talent.

“There is still some work ahead. We have large boots to fill.

“We cannot replace them with identical profiles, but we must find a strategy that keeps us competitive in the higher reaches of the table where we spent much of last term, and that will be no easy feat. The follow-up campaign always presents a test.

“This group has consistently exceeded expectations. We are likely to be afforded a bit more recognition next term, but the players have consistently met every demand.”
