Aston Villa are in advanced discussions to bring in Alejandro Garnacho on a temporary deal that could include a mandatory purchase clause.
The 21-year-old Argentine wide player was listed for transfer by Chelsea at a £43 million valuation last month; however, the club is willing to consider a permanent exit under specific terms, even if the arrangement begins as a loan.
This comes after Chelsea completed the record-breaking £117 million acquisition of Morgan Rogers from Villa on Tuesday evening.
Should the deal be completed, Garnacho would become Villa’s fourth addition during a hectic summer in the transfer market, following the arrivals of Johan Manzambi, Joao Gomes, and Modou Keba Cisse at the Midlands side.
Departures from Villa have generated close to £200 million, with Youri Tielemans, Donyell Malen, Enzo Barrenechea, and Lewis Dobbin all heading for the exit.
Chelsea have been eager to move Garnacho on, even though they only brought him in from Manchester United last September for £40 million. United would be entitled to 10 per cent of any future transfer fee.
He has managed just a single Premier League goal at Stamford Bridge, and with the signings of Rogers and Sporting winger Geovany Quenda, the necessity to trim the squad has grown.
