Wales playmaker Harry Wilson made his Leeds United debut as his new team suffered a 3-2 defeat to Wrexham in their first pre-season fixture.
Wilson joined the Elland Road club on a free transfer this summer following the expiry of his Fulham contract. He entered the match at half-time at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
Wrexham needed less than a minute to take the lead, with Kieffer Moore finding the net via a left-footed finish.
Leeds were awarded an opportunity to equalise from the penalty spot after goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo fouled Dan James, but Joel Piroe failed to convert the kick.
Piroe soon responded by producing a backheel finish from Sean Longstaff’s pass to bring Leeds level.
Bailey Cadamarteri broke clear and calmly restored Wrexham’s advantage, before Longstaff equalised once more with a right-footed strike.
Leeds manager Daniel Farke brought Wilson on as part of his half-time substitutions. Later, Sam Smith struck the decisive goal for the Championship club, having also scored the winner in Wrexham’s pre-season triumph over Manchester United.
Wilson nearly rescued a draw for Leeds in stoppage time, but his effort sailed over the crossbar.
