Kosta Nedeljkovic has completed a season-long loan move from Aston Villa to Rangers, who have a “conditional obligation” to sign the 20-year-old Serbian defender permanently.
The right-back agreed to join Aston Villa from Red Star Belgrade in January before officially moving in the summer of 2024. He later spent two separate loan periods with RB Leipzig.
Manager Derek McInnes described Kosta as a quick, energetic full-back who enjoys attacking but is equally determined to defend and compete, adding that he will provide greater strength in an important position.
McInnes also highlighted the defender’s valuable experience in top-level English and German football, alongside his appearances for the Serbian national team.
Knee and back problems restricted him to only six appearances for the German club last season.
Before moving to Germany, Nedeljkovic featured 10 times for Villa in all competitions.
He becomes Rangers’ 11th signing of the summer and will join Serbia team-mate Vanja Dragojevic at the club.
Dragojevic, primarily a midfielder, has already been used at right-back this season, as have Dujon Sterling and Ross McCrorie.
Nedeljkovic said he was delighted to become part of such a major club and close-knit community, and that he looks forward to helping the team achieve success.
He added that speaking with the manager made his choice straightforward, describing the move as both an important opportunity and a major responsibility while promising to remain positive and work diligently.
