Northampton chairman Kelvin Thomas said: “The proposed investment has undergone an extensive and demanding review, covering the ownership arrangement, long-term financial stability, the funding behind the deal, and the credentials of everyone involved.
“Receiving approval through both regulatory procedures is a major step forward for the club. It should also give fans and stakeholders greater assurance about the planned investment and the groundwork being laid for Northampton’s future.
“We are grateful to both regulatory bodies for the professional, careful and comprehensive way in which they conducted their assessments.
“The group’s diverse experience reflects a shared enthusiasm for football. Several investors have already travelled to Northampton, visited the club and watched matches in person.
“Their combined knowledge of football, business and finance will be a valuable addition to the club. With several Brazilian members in the group, we also hope they will introduce some of the energy and creativity associated with Brazilian football.
“With the regulatory reviews now concluded, attention turns to completing the outstanding paperwork and formally concluding the investment. Further information about the funding, its structure and the leading investors will be released once the deal is complete.
“We appreciate the supporters’ patience, and it is encouraging to know that football has such thorough safeguards in place.”
