Viterbese dropped into Serie D last season, and Beimers says the opportunity to help the club return to Italy’s third division was a major part of its attraction.
Ahead of the new campaign, the team joined forces with another club to compete as Vigor Campagnano Gialloblu, although Viterbese remains central to its identity and heritage.
Several other factors also persuaded him to make the move, including the training facilities, the 7,000-capacity stadium and the people working behind the scenes.
“The club has experienced plenty of challenges over the years, and the people here matter greatly to me. I place a lot of importance on the environment away from the field.
“At times, you simply have to trust your instincts and take the opportunity.”
His ambition is to become the team’s regular starting goalkeeper, but his main objective is to help secure promotion to Serie C, an achievement he believes would be “incredible”.
Beimers made his first appearance on Sunday, recording a clean sheet as his side defeated Anagni 4-0.
Before beginning his journey, Beimers had discussed his ambition of one day playing against Barcelona or Real Madrid.
A favourable cup draw could now give him the chance to meet Napoli, Roma or one of Milan’s two leading clubs in the Coppa Italia.
In time, he could also rise through the divisions and reach a level where high-profile fixtures are a regular part of the season.
“It would be extraordinary. I do not think I have fully taken in that possibility yet,” he said.
“Being drawn against a club of that stature would be remarkable and would produce one of the most significant games of my career.”
