Former Blackburn Rovers forward Chris Sutton believes Martin’s commitment to a possession-focused style could put him under growing pressure unless performances and results improve.
Sutton said Martin is increasingly viewed as a coach whose sides prioritise controlling the ball but often lack attacking urgency and a decisive edge.
He added that Martin has taken charge of Leicester with the clear expectation of securing an immediate return to the top flight.
Smith suggested that perceptions surrounding Martin’s approach may make supporters less patient, even though he previously led Southampton to promotion from the Championship.
Sutton accepted that some of the criticism directed at Martin after his brief period with Rangers was undeserved, but warned that Leicester’s objectives allow little time for a difficult opening run.
He said Martin must secure positive results soon to change the mood around the club.
According to Sutton, the main challenge is that Leicester supporters expect promotion, placing significant pressure on the manager.
