Stenhousemuir manager Marvin Bartley remains unbeaten after 10 matches in charge, with his side yet to lose in either normal time or extra time.
Ahead of Hearts’ visit, the former Livingston boss said his players were working with a shared understanding.
He explained that the team has a clear plan for every aspect of its play, including possession, movement without the ball and set pieces.
Bartley said the aim is to remove uncertainty. While many teams bring structure to their attacking play but take a more improvised approach to defending, Stenhousemuir prefer to do things differently.
He added that the players must understand how to defend whenever the ball moves into particular situations or areas of the pitch.
Midfielder Lewis O’Donnell believes the Warriors have improved because Bartley gives them greater freedom.
The 21-year-old said the manager encourages every player to be inventive and create opportunities when entering attacking positions.
Rather than following rigid instructions, the squad has been urged to play with confidence and express itself, an approach O’Donnell feels the team has embraced.
