Reading Unfazed by PSG Visit for AI Summit at League One Club

Reading’s Head of AI, Stuart Fenton, believes Paris St-Germain’s decision to attend a technology summit hosted by the League One side highlights the significant strides the Royals have taken.

The current European champions and Dutch powerhouse Ajax are among the teams set to join Friday’s conference at Reading’s Bearwood Park training facility. The event comes one year after the Royals launched an innovative AI department under new owner Rob Couhig.

Fenton said it was particularly exciting for Reading to welcome clubs of such high standing, including the reigning Champions League winners.

He explained that while Reading are making encouraging progress, they do not want to work in isolation and are eager to learn how leading clubs across the world are using the technology.

Fenton added that the summit gives Reading an opportunity to engage with elite European teams, something especially meaningful to him as a supporter of the club.

The discussions will focus on the role of AI in football and how the technology could influence the sport’s future direction.

According to Fenton, the calibre of clubs attending reflects the strength of Reading’s programme and the considerable development achieved over the past year.
