Ahead of Saturday’s defeat by Spain at Wembley, much of the discussion focused on England’s playing style and identity.
Forward Anthony Gordon suggested the Three Lions should adopt a more traditional approach, while Tuchel said he might begin to “welcome the chaos”.
England recovered from falling behind to take a 2-1 lead over Spain. Harry Kane later failed to convert a penalty, and the world champions struck twice to secure a 3-2 victory.
“I believe we demonstrated our style, bravery and identity, and the players maintained those qualities for the entire match,” Tuchel said.
“We played a meaningful role in an excellent game of football, with both sides displaying their quality across the 90 minutes.
“Some individual errors created difficulties for us. Those mistakes should not occur, but unfortunately they did.
“Nevertheless, we followed our approach and encouraged the players to express themselves in the way they prefer.”
England’s Nations League fixtures are being played under a revised international-break schedule that keeps the squad together for three weeks.
Tuchel, who must get his players ready for four matches in 11 days, admitted that handling so many games in such a short period has been demanding.
“In my view, this schedule is more difficult than any previous format because it involves extensive travel, two matches separated by only two rest days, additional flights and changes in playing surfaces,” the German added.
“Switching training routines, tactical approaches and playing positions between club and international football already carries injury risks. At present, I feel this format raises those risks rather than reducing them.”
