Jordan Pickford of England ‘nearly caused an accident’ with reckless driving

News

England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford came close to being involved in a collision with two other vehicles while driving his £200,000 Lamborghini carelessly, a court was told.

Police stopped the 32-year-old after he allegedly failed to obey a give-way sign, causing two motorists to brake sharply, before accelerating away.

The incident took place in Knutsford, Cheshire, on 14 April and led to a criminal case concerning driving without due care or attention.

Pickford, who has played 336 times for Everton and earned 92 caps for England, admitted the offence and is due to appear at Chester Magistrates’ Court on 7 December.

Court records state that Cheshire Police officer PC Cecil Ricardo had just departed the police station when he noticed Pickford’s blue Lamborghini Urus, which had personalised registration plates.

The officer said he was stopped on Bexton Road in Knutsford while waiting for the traffic lights to change.

He then saw a blue Lamborghini Urus travelling along Princess Street.

According to his account, the vehicle reached the Toft Road junction, went past the give-way markings and entered the road, forcing two cars to brake heavily to prevent a crash.

The Lamborghini then accelerated along Toft Road in Knutsford.
