Poland present a serious threat after overcoming Belgium on penalties following a 3-3 aggregate draw, with Barcelona forward Ewa Pajor among their key players. However, they were beaten twice by Ireland during qualifying in April.

“We have faced both sides recently, but the situation will be different when November arrives.

“A place at the World Cup is on the line, so we must be fully prepared. It is a challenge we are looking forward to.”

McCabe described her summer switch to Chelsea, after her Arsenal contract expired, as a refreshing change that could benefit her performances for both club and country.

“I felt it was the right moment to begin a new stage of my career. Working with Sonia [Bompastor, Chelsea manager] and the rest of the squad has been excellent from the moment I arrived.

“I am enjoying playing again and focusing on one match at a time, but my main priority is to put myself in the strongest possible position to help us reach the World Cup.”

McCabe also said Ireland’s players understand what is required to qualify for football’s biggest competition, having reached the tournament for the first time in Australia in 2023.

“We have experienced both good and difficult moments over the years. November will be crucial, and we will remain united as we approach those matches.

“We will give everything to complete the job and take this country back to the World Cup.”
