Club Brugge produced the standout Champions League result by defeating Inter 4-3 at San Siro, inspired by young striker Nicolò Tresoldi. The 22-year-old, who was born in Italy and represents Germany at under-21 level, scored the Belgian club’s opening three goals.

Tresoldi opened the scoring shortly before the half-hour mark, converting a penalty awarded after Hakan Calhanoglu fouled Carlos Forbs. He added his second by taking advantage of a mistake from Inter goalkeeper Josep Martínez, then completed his hat-trick with 15 minutes remaining after reacting more quickly than the home defence.

Lautaro Martínez offered Inter a route back into the contest just before half-time, finishing a move started by Marcus Thuram and completed with Federico Dimarco’s backheeled assist. The Argentinian struck again in the 81st minute to reduce the deficit to 3-2, but Romeo Vermant punished another defensive lapse by scoring Brugge’s fourth six minutes later. Ange-Yoan Bonny then netted for the hosts in the third minute of added time.

Following a 2-1 opening defeat against Real Madrid at the Bernabéu, Inter are still without a point and face considerable pressure ahead of next week’s home fixture against Shakhtar Donetsk. Brugge, beaten at home by Aston Villa in their first match, will welcome French side Lens next.

Bayern Munich were forced to settle for a 3-3 draw away to Viking after Herman Haugen scored a late equaliser and Michael Olise was dismissed. Goals from Gianni Stensness and Peter Christiansen gave the Norwegian champions a 2-0 half-time advantage. Harry Kane appeared to have turned the match around by scoring twice and creating another goal as Bayern moved 3-2 ahead, but Olise received two yellow cards within a minute.

Viking capitalised on their numerical advantage when Haugen found the net in the final minute, earning the Norwegian champions a remarkable draw against the German giants. Olise’s suspension will rule him out of next week’s high-profile meeting with Arsenal in Munich.

Barcelona and Lamine Yamal regained their attacking rhythm after a difficult first half at Istanbul’s Ali Sami Yen stadium, eventually securing a 4-1 victory over Galatasaray.

The Turkish side moved in front after 27 minutes. Following Anthony Gordon’s fall inside the penalty area, the hosts broke quickly through Rafael Leão down the left. His cutback reached Aleksey Batrakov on the edge of the box, and the Russian’s shot took a deflection off João Cancelo before crossing the line.

The goal sparked a sustained period of pressure from the hosts, with Victor Osimhen heading a corner beyond Joan García. Baris Yilmaz touched the ball into the net but was judged to be offside. Barcelona gradually regained control, and after Lamine Yamal was brought down near the penalty area, Davinson Sánchez collected the loose ball but immediately surrendered possession. Dani Olmo then slipped a pass through to Cancelo, who supplied the finish.

Lamine Yamal took command of the contest early in the second half. After creating an opportunity that Gordon failed to convert, he helped Barcelona move ahead in the 50th minute by delivering a delicate curling cross for Fermin López to head into the net.

Three minutes later, Yamal repeatedly outmanoeuvred Eren Elmali in a confined area before sliding the ball to Gordon in front of goal, and the England forward converted this time. In the 65th minute, Yamal cut inside from the flank and directed a pass towards Gabriel Jesus. The substitute and former Arsenal striker was unable to bring it under control, but the ball broke kindly for Karim Adeyemi, who drove his shot home.

Villarreal came from behind to secure a 3-1 home victory over Napoli, with Georges Mikautadze, Santiago Mouriño and Tani Oluwaseyi all scoring. Elsewhere, Brajan Gruda struck in the 75th minute to give RB Leipzig a 1-0 win against PSV Eindhoven, after Maarten Vandevoordt had denied Ivan Perisic’s early penalty with his foot.

Azerbaijani underdogs Sabah recorded their first victory in the league phase by overcoming Slavia Prague 2-0. Second-half goals from Kaheem Parris and Joy-Lance Mickels completed a memorable triumph in Baku for a club established only nine years ago.

In the other early fixture, Sporting earned a 2-0 away victory against Lens, with Luis Suárez and Issa Doumbia scoring on either side of half-time.
