Having launched his senior playing days at Dinamo Zagreb when he was just 16, the promising Croatian playmaker Alen Halilovic secured a full transfer to Barcelona, staying there for two years before moving on to Hamburg for another two-season stint.
Throughout his period at Camp Nou, he featured mostly for the club’s reserve side, then spent the 2015–16 term on a temporary deal at Sporting Gijon.
Following his arrival at Hamburg in 2016, he was sent out on loan to Spanish top-flight outfit Las Palmas for the 2017–18 season.
In 2018, not long after turning 22, he put pen to paper with AC Milan, making it the sixth side of his journey — and Italy the fourth nation where he had competed.
The midfielder subsequently had stints at Birmingham City and Reading. He is currently on the books of Fortuna Sittard in the Dutch league.
