Arsenal have announced the acquisition of German forward Selina Cerci from Hoffenheim on a free transfer.
The 26-year-old has played her entire club career in the Frauen-Bundesliga and netted 34 times in 47 outings for Hoffenheim, contributing to their fourth-place league finish in the 2025-26 campaign.
With 20 senior international appearances and five goals, she arrives to help fill the gap created when Beth Mead departed for Women’s Super League title holders Manchester City earlier this summer.
It is understood that Cerci has put pen to paper on a two-year contract that includes an option to extend for an additional 12 months.
“This is a tremendous honour for me,” Cerci said. “No matter what other sides showed an interest, my desire was always to play for Arsenal.”
After beginning her journey with productive stints at Werder Bremen and Turbine Potsdam, Cerci sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury in March 2022 that kept her out of that year’s Women’s Euros and the subsequent Women’s World Cup.
A move to Hoffenheim via FC Köln followed, where she rediscovered her best form and twice claimed second spot in the league’s goalscoring charts with 16 strikes.
“She is a natural finisher with a solidified reputation in the Bundesliga,” said Arsenal’s director of women’s football, Clare Wheatley. “We think she is well prepared to make the step into the English game.”
During the most recent season, Cerci expanded her creative output by providing nine league assists, a figure that matched the division’s second-highest tally alongside another new Arsenal recruit, Georgia Stanway, formerly of Bayern Munich.
“[Selina] brings outstanding goalscoring figures along with real presence, power, and attacking drive,” Head Coach Renee Slegers added. “Pair those qualities with her tremendous work rate, and we believe she will be a valuable reinforcement for our squad.”
