Arsenal transfer update: Leandro Trossard completes move to Besiktas for £15.3m

Uncategorized

Arsenal are gearing up to intensify their chase for Club Brugge forward Christos Tzolis in the wake of Trossard’s exit.

It was reported earlier in June that the Gunners held an interest in the Greek international, and the club are now ready to make their approach for the attacker.

Club Brugge expect a bid to arrive from Arsenal for Tzolis.

Sporting director Andrea Berta is overseeing the move after his assistant Maurizio Micheli watched the 24-year-old feature for Greece against Sweden last month.

Tzolis is believed to have a price tag of roughly £30m (€35m).

Any transfer for him would be independent of Arsenal’s plans to bring in more high-profile attacking additions this summer.

The club retain long-standing admiration for Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez, who sits at the top of their wish list, though it remains uncertain if a deal for the Argentinian can be struck this summer with Barcelona and Real Madrid also in the frame.

Morgan Rogers is Arsenal’s favoured choice as they search for a versatile forward, and their push to sign the Aston Villa talent is expected to gather pace once his World Cup involvement with England comes to an end.

Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola is seen as the alternative should they fail to reach an agreement with Aston Villa, who are said to value Rogers at £130m.

Elsewhere, Arsenal recruitment specialist Micheli took in Georgia Under-21 international Andria Bartishvili’s performance for Iberia 1999 against Flora in a Champions League qualifier last Wednesday, with sources suggesting the Gunners are stepping up their efforts to land the teenage attacker.
