Celtic have announced the arrival of Camilo Duran from Qarabag on a five-year contract.
The 24-year-old Colombian attacker moves from the Azerbaijan Premier League’s second-placed side for a fee that remains undisclosed.
During the previous campaign he registered 15 goals and 10 assists, including five goals in 10 Champions League outings.
“Competing in the Champions League felt like a childhood fantasy fulfilled,” the Scottish title holders’ first summer recruit told the club’s in-house media.
“It is what you imagine as a youngster, so getting on the scoresheet was extraordinary, and that is exactly what I want to keep doing here — finding the net in the Champions League.
“I pour everything into every match, with immense effort and dedication, and I believe the goals will follow.
“It is a privilege to become the first Colombian to feature for Celtic. Since I was a boy, it has been a dream [to play for my national team], and I hope that by performing well at Celtic, that day will eventually arrive.”
Duran joined Qarabag last summer from the Portuguese second-tier club Portimonense.
He has since returned to Portugal for Celtic’s training camp.
“The moment I heard about the interest, there was no indecision at all — I simply cannot wait to get out there with the squad,” he added.
“I have told the manager how thrilled I am to be here, and I aim to repay him through my performances.”
