Five-time champions Chelsea will play League One club Luton at home in the second round of the Carabao Cup. New head coach Xabi Alonso will launch Chelsea’s bid to claim the trophy for the first time since 2015 later this month.
Tottenham, another Premier League team, were also awarded a home fixture and will face Championship side Charlton.
The 11 Premier League clubs not competing in Europe join the tournament in round two, while the other nine will enter in the third round.
Fulham welcome League One side AFC Wimbledon, Brentford face a challenging trip to Championship club Birmingham, and Ipswich entertain Leicester.
Elsewhere in the southern section, West Ham, who defeated Portsmouth in Saturday’s opening round, will visit Championship team Southampton.

The standout tie in the northern section has last season’s Europa League semi-finalists Nottingham Forest welcoming fellow Premier League club Leeds.
Newcastle’s new head coach, Matthias Jaissle, will begin with a home match against West Brom. Everton manager David Moyes, meanwhile, is set to return to Preston, the club he previously represented as both a player and a manager. Newly promoted Hull will visit Stoke.
Second-round matches are expected to be held in the week starting 24 August. Wembley will stage the 2026-27 final on 21 March.
