Emily Fox Makes Straightforward Choice to Sign New Arsenal Contract

News

Reports in January indicated that Fox still had one year left on her contract, although Arsenal remained confident that she would extend her stay.

She has developed into one of the world’s leading full-backs and has represented Arsenal nearly 100 times across all competitions.

Despite contributing to Renee Slegers’ team’s European triumph in 2025, Fox believes one major honour is still absent from her achievements: the WSL championship.

“We still have more to accomplish. Our aim is to maintain our progress, continue winning and perhaps reclaim some of the honours the club has secured in the past,” Fox said.

“Representing Arsenal naturally comes with significant expectations, both within the club and from those outside it. That is simply part of the experience.

“When pursuing ambitious targets, you need to focus on one match at a time rather than looking too far into the future. That is how I approach it.”

Fox is also getting ready for an important summer with the United States, coached by former Chelsea manager Emma Hayes, as the team targets a strong run at the 2027 Women’s World Cup.

“We will begin with two home matches against Spain in October. This year has been very positive because of the quality of our opponents and the tests they have presented,” she added.

“Facing many different kinds of teams has exposed us to a range of settings, tactical approaches and ideas that can shape the way we intend to play.

“That preparation is essential for any team hoping to become world champions. Before then, we must secure qualification in November, and those are the goals we are working towards.”
