Everton’s owner, The Friedkin Group, is considering a possible sale of a majority stake in the club. In a statement released on Friday, the organisation confirmed that it was assessing several investment opportunities, including a potential change of control.
The group finalised its takeover in December 2024, bringing Farhad Moshiri’s turbulent ownership period to an end, and subsequently managed the club’s relocation to its new stadium.
In its statement, Everton said: “The Friedkin Group is reviewing a range of investment possibilities for Everton Football Club, which may include selling a controlling stake.
“When TFG assumed responsibility for Everton, the club was dealing with considerable financial instability as well as serious difficulties both on and off the field. Its first objective was to deliver the stability, funding and backing required to protect the club’s long-term future, including supporting the completion of the stadium that supporters had awaited for many years.
“Now that these essential foundations have been secured, we believe this is an appropriate moment to evaluate Everton’s next phase. We will consider approaches only from parties we are confident can responsibly lead the club forward and continue the progress already made.”
