FA Charges Cardiff City Defender Krystian Bielik Following Portsmouth Incident

News

Cardiff City defender Krystian Bielik has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association following a confrontation involving Portsmouth supporters. A separate police inquiry into the incident has ended, with no further action planned.

The incident occurred during Cardiff’s 2-0 Championship loss away to Portsmouth on Saturday, 5 September.

In a statement, the FA alleged that Bielik behaved improperly in or around the 71st minute of the game.

The Poland international has until Friday, 25 September to submit his response to the charge.

Hampshire Police were informed about the incident while the match was taking place and opened an investigation shortly afterwards. That inquiry has now ended.

Police said they had completed their investigation into an incident involving a Portsmouth supporter and a Cardiff player at Fratton Park on 5 September 2026.

After interviewing the complainant and examining the available evidence, the case was settled through an out-of-court resolution accepted by everyone involved. Bielik also issued an apology as part of the agreement.

Authorities now regard the case as closed and will not pursue any additional action connected to the incident.

Cardiff City have been contacted for a response.
