Feyenoord general manager Robert Eenhoorn said the club’s 5-2 win in Leeuwarden brought him little satisfaction because the incident had left him deeply frustrated.
Eenhoorn noted that the issue extends beyond Feyenoord and has persisted across Dutch football for decades despite repeated efforts to resolve it.
He called for clubs, the KNVB, local authorities and other relevant parties to meet again and work collectively toward an effective solution.
Leeuwarden mayor Foort van Oosten denounced what happened and pledged an investigation, while the Dutch football association said its procedures for handling crowd disorder would be reviewed.
Although supporters were injured, play continued because no player or match official had been struck; otherwise, the fixture would have been called off.
Jan Bluyssen, the KNVB official responsible for professional competition matters, said allowing the match to continue under those circumstances did not seem appropriate.
He added that the existing protocol should be reassessed to determine whether it remains suitable and what changes may be necessary.
