Harry Kane says he is no longer feeling the same strong desire to return to England from Germany and pursue the Premier League’s all-time goalscoring record.
The forward left Tottenham for Bayern Munich in 2023 after scoring 213 goals in England’s top division, leaving him 47 behind Alan Shearer’s record of 260.
Since moving to Munich, Kane has continued to produce outstanding numbers for both club and country, scoring 73 goals last season.
The striker is now entering the final year of the four-year agreement he signed following his £86.4m transfer from Spurs three years ago, with talks over a potential extension expected to begin soon.
After collecting the Golden Shoe for finishing as the Bundesliga’s leading scorer on Wednesday, the England captain explained that he feels fully at home in Munich.
Kane said: “When I initially moved abroad, I was certain that I would eventually return. However, that feeling has become less intense over time.”
“I am very content in Munich. Living here has introduced me to a completely different football culture beyond England and has given me an even greater appreciation for the European game.”
“We have a strong squad, an excellent manager and my family is very comfortable here. The priority is simply to remain in the environment that suits me best.”
“You should never rule anything out, but my attention is on Bayern for now, and we will find out what happens in the years ahead.”
