Following the match, Vrancken confirmed reports that winger Alexandros Kyziridis is likely to complete a transfer to Turkey.
“The club agreed to an offer,” Vrancken said about the 25-year-old Greek player. “It is a positive deal for both the club and the player.”
“He arrived on a free transfer and is now leaving for a valuable fee. That is part of football, and our attention remains on the players still with us.”
This reflects the club’s current recruitment strategy. Hearts signed Kyziridis from Slovakia without paying a transfer fee and are now expected to receive a seven-figure sum for him.
He recorded four goals and seven assists in the league last season. However, only one goal and one assist came after the turn of the year, as his performances declined noticeably compared with the opening months of the campaign.
Hearts have since recruited Sabri Guendouz, Josh McPake and Calvin Miller, while Rogers Mato has joined permanently following his loan spell. Albanian impact substitute Sabah Kerjota was already part of the squad.
That gives the team five candidates for two positions, with Guendouz and Miller also able to operate in the number 10 role behind the forward.
Kyziridis became popular with supporters because of his hard work, creativity and memorable strike against Falkirk, but Hearts appear to have already secured his successor within the current squad.
