The loss leaves Hibs sitting tenth in the Premiership. However, with a new manager introducing a different approach, the Easter Road supporters may need to remain patient.
Former Scotland international James McFadden said the transition would require time because the team are moving away from a back-three system, in which wing-backs push forward, deliver crosses and rely heavily on hard work rather than technical creativity.
He explained that a 4-2-3-1 formation places greater responsibility on the wide players, who must attack the space behind the defensive line while combining pace with composure.
McFadden added that adapting from one playing style to another cannot happen immediately. He also viewed the manager’s frustration positively, as it showed his desire for the players to put the new plan into practice without delay.
Despite Hibs’ position near the bottom of the table, McFadden is confident they will not remain involved in a relegation battle for long.
He insisted that Hibs would not be in danger by the end of the campaign.
McFadden said he would have held the same belief had David Gray remained in charge, although he acknowledged that changing the team’s approach will inevitably require patience.
He noted that Hibs supporters expect a side that not only wins but does so convincingly. Achieving that standard is difficult, but it is also the reason Reedijk was appointed and the managerial change was made.
McFadden concluded that the new manager is already setting demanding expectations, and the squad may need time to meet them consistently.
