Ian Holloway: Swindon manager calls himself a ‘dead man walking’ unless results improve

News

Swindon manager Ian Holloway says he feels like a “dead man walking” as pressure grows amid the club’s poor run of results.

The Robins sit 12th in League Two after winning three of their opening eight league fixtures, while they have failed to secure a victory in their last three matches.

Holloway, appointed nearly two years ago, believes his side requires greater support because 13 injured players have left him without almost half of his squad.

“It feels as though I am a dead man walking, although I understand the situation is far more complicated than that,” Holloway told local radio.

“I am aware of what I have achieved, where I currently stand and the difficulties we are facing. I have done my best to discuss those issues with everyone in an open and truthful way.”

Swindon visit Rochdale on Saturday still searching for their first away victory of the season, with Holloway insisting his players require additional assistance.

“For the players to have a genuine opportunity, we desperately need things to begin going our way straight away,” he said.

“If that does not happen, I will continue supporting them, but I cannot say how many others will do the same. They need help at this moment, and I am working hard to provide it.”

“I must speak up for what I believe this squad needs and deserves. I regret that we have not won every match. We have collected 11 points, although we had hoped for considerably more. Ten of those points came at home and only one was earned away, so our performances on the road must improve.”
