Israel fans will be allowed to attend next month’s Nations League match against the Republic of Ireland, although travelling supporters will not be accommodated.
With conflict continuing in the Middle East, both Group B3 meetings will take place at neutral grounds. Israel will be listed as the home side for the match at Nagyerdei Stadion in Debrecen, Hungary, on 27 September, with a limited number of its supporters permitted entry.
The return match is scheduled to take place in Serbia, and the Football Association of Ireland [FAI] has announced that the game on 4 October will be held without any spectators.
“The association recognises the dedication and enthusiasm shown by Ireland fans who travel worldwide to support its teams. However, logistical difficulties and concerns surrounding safety and security resulted in this decision,” the FAI said in a statement.
“The Israel Football Association has confirmed that a limited allocation will be made available to its own supporters for the home fixture in Debrecen, Hungary.”
