Lisandro Martinez Interview: Jason Wilcox Under Fire Again Amid Latest Man Utd Turmoil

News

To begin with, Wilcox is not expected to leave the club.

People within United insist that the 55-year-old’s position is secure and that he is not at risk of being dismissed.

The recruitment team is assessing possible January additions after acknowledging that the decision not to bring in competition for Luke Shaw at left-back or additional support for striker Benjamin Sesko was a mistake.

Shaw and Sesko have already been unavailable for games this season. Sesko faces an uncertain spell on the sidelines following the return of a shin problem that first emerged in May and ruled him out of United’s entire pre-season schedule.

United’s recruitment work received approval in the summer of 2025. The club chose Senne Lammens instead of Amorim’s preferred option, Emi Martinez, while the arrivals of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Sesko brought renewed energy to the attack.

However, questions remain over the players brought in as part of this year’s £155m summer spending. Baleba missed the opening six weeks through injury, Santos has remained on the bench without playing in the past three Premier League fixtures, and Tielemans has struggled to produce consistent performances.

Some sources have raised concerns about the broader recruitment plan. In particular, they have questioned the £35m signing of Tielemans because his qualities resemble those of England midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, as well as whether the £50m allocated to Santos should instead have been used to recruit an established first-choice player.
