Kang added: “Many others also have confidence in the growth of women’s football. This was a carefully considered investment rather than a charitable contribution. They share our vision, and together we will provide the resources needed to develop the game and shape its future.”

Every Women’s Super League club except London City has the same shirt sponsor as its affiliated men’s side.

London City’s record applies specifically to independent women’s clubs, as they are the only such team competing in England’s highest division.

Kang acquired London City in 2023 and has since made a significant impact on the league, investing heavily to secure promotion to the top tier. The club went on to place sixth in the division last season.

Her portfolio also includes Lyon in France and Washington Spirit in the United States.

London City will welcome Manchester United for their opening Women’s Super League fixture on Friday at 19:00 BST. A full house is expected at the Copperjax Community Stadium in Bromley, with more than 5,400 tickets already sold.

Kang has previously outlined her long-term goal of delivering success for the club, saying the team intends to compete at the highest level.
