Middlesbrough have completed the signing of Vancouver Whitecaps midfielder Sebastian Berhalter on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
The 25-year-old United States international registered 20 goals across 167 appearances for the Major League Soccer (MLS) team.
He could make his first appearance for Kim Hellberg’s side when they face Wrexham in the opening round of the Carabao Cup on Friday, 7 August.
“This is the place I want to be. I am determined to continue developing both as a player and as a person, and I believe this is an excellent environment in which to do that,” he said on the club’s website., external
Berhalter was born in London during the period when his father, Gregg, was a Crystal Palace player. Gregg later coached his son at international level with the United States.
