Jordan James says an injury-hit Wales side will not be intimidated when they face some of football’s finest talents in Thursday’s Nations League A opener against Portugal.
Wales were already without Joe Rodon and Dylan Lawlor before Karl Darlow, Nathan Broadhead and key player Harry Wilson also withdrew from the squad.
After earning promotion to the Nations League’s highest division by topping their League B group in 2024, Wales begin a challenging campaign against a Portugal team packed with elite talent in Lisbon.
Portugal’s squad features prominent players such as Ruben Dias, Joao Cancelo, Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, Joao Neves and Bruno Fernandes, alongside 41-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder James believes Wales will approach the contest without fear as they seek their first victory since beating North Macedonia in a World Cup qualifier last November.
“There is no denying that they are among the finest players in football, and we have to be honest about the level of opposition we are facing,” James said.
