Nottingham Forest have made an ambitious attempt to recruit Everton‘s highly rated teenage midfielder Harrison Armstrong.
Forest want to reinforce their squad before the transfer window closes and are reportedly considering an offer of £40m, along with a possible sell-on clause, to secure Armstrong’s services.
Although Everton allowing the move would be unexpected, Forest remain hopeful of signing the composed England under-19 international, who is widely viewed as a player with considerable potential.
The 19-year-old has featured 23 times for Everton and was in the starting line-up for last week’s 2-0 Premier League victory over Crystal Palace.
There is currently no sign that Everton are prepared to approve a sale. Any departure could upset supporters, while manager David Moyes has already expressed dissatisfaction with the club’s summer transfer activity.
Following the Carabao Cup second-round victory at Preston North End, Moyes stressed his desire to add greater quality to the squad and indicated that he expected the club’s owners, the Friedkin Group, to support further signings.
Everton have since faced speculation surrounding Iliman Ndiaye and a possible switch to Manchester City, while Forest are now preparing to challenge the club’s determination to retain Armstrong.
