‘Passionate talks’ persuaded Marink Reedijk to take charge at Hibs

Hibs are currently 10th in the Premiership standings, and Reedijk has outlined his ambitions as he takes charge of a Scottish top-flight club for the first time.

“My aim is to win as many games as I can,” he said. “I really dislike losing.

“Even when I play Monopoly or another game against my five-year-old cousin, I am determined to win. That competitive attitude may not always be ideal, but it is useful in football.”

Reedijk also stressed that developing a united identity throughout the club will be equally important.

“One of my main priorities is to strengthen the sense of family and ensure that we work together,” he added.

“I want everyone to feel included, embrace the club’s identity and represent it both on and off the field, as well as in the stands.”

Reedijk has moved to Edinburgh after departing Belgian club Beveren, whom he led to promotion last season. Although this is his first job managing in a top division, he sees considerable promise in Scottish football.

“There is great potential here, along with deep-rooted tradition and tremendous passion,” he said.

“People abroad, including those in the Netherlands, often focus on only a small number of clubs.

“However, after studying the competition closely, it is clear that this is a demanding league.

“Any team is capable of defeating another, as recent results have shown, which makes this an exciting challenge and an opportunity for personal growth.”
